Anthony Alexander White is father to Jonathan and Jason White. He earned those sons through his stewardship with Nevin Kellingbeck White, his wife of nine years. There are a number of other earnings that have been in his path.
While fulltime at General Accident Insurance Company (1988-2002), he was promoted from his clerical and technical accounting positions, to credit officer, and management trainee. He was also celebrated there as Employee of the Year in 1996. Anthony successfully pursued the B.A. in Theology (with minors in Pastoral Studies and Guidance & Counselling) at the Jamaica Theological Seminary. During the course of his studies, he was selected by the Scholarship Committee of JTS to receive the Odel Peart Award and the Curtis Cole Foundation Award for being the most outstanding Portmore student, and the Outstanding Pastoral Studies student respectively. Shortly after graduating, he served the institution as part-time lecturer.
The Rev. Mr. White was born to parents Norma Porter and Frederick White on December 1, 1966. His early years included attending worship services on both Saturdays and Sundays. Part of his life as a youngster was spent in what would be termed as a very volatile area of Kingston. He survived.
During his four years as a student at Jamaica College, Anthony represented the school in table tennis and in French drama festivals. He went on to Excelsior Community College for two years before pursuing in earnest, his acumen for figures in the field of accountancy. Firstly, he became an accounting technician through the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT), and pursued chartered status up to Level 2 of three. As a sportsman, he was selected by Jamaica Table Tennis Association for a one month workshop as potential national representative.
All these achievements did not alter or change the gaping need in his life for something lasting and truly satisfying. When in August 1992, Anthony received Jesus Christ in his life at Portmore Gospel Assembly, everything changed. Everything! He entered the life of satisfaction.
He was eager and consistent in seeking out the counsel of elders, and he followed instructions in the way of maturity in Christ. As he followed and matured, he earned the respect and trust of his peers, the leaders of the congregation, and the general membership. While making these strides, he kept an eye on Nevin for which he was richly rewarded with her hand in marriage in 1996. Acutely aware of the need for continual strengthening of their marital commitment, they helped initiate and continue to be an integral part of the Couples Group at PGA.
Anthony was appointed deacon, and shortly afterwards treasurer of the church--responsibilities he carried out while being a youth leader and cell group coordinator. Rev. White attended the Haggai Leadership Institute in Singapore for a month in the summer of 2002, immediately after resigning his post at General Accident. He spent a year of internship (2002-2003) at Rehoboth under the supervision of Dr. the Rev. Carlton Dennis. His ordination to the Christian ministry took place at PGA on April 4, 2004. Today, the concluding leg of his pastoral placement takes place.
